Out of Body Experience (OBE) or Astral Projection

Out of Body Experience - What is it?
An "out of body experience" (OBE) can be defined as the process of transiently separating the consciousness (spirit) from the physical body, such that the person and world are observed from outside of the body. OBE's are also known as astral projections. There are several ways people perceive an out of body experience, including dreams, daydreams, and memories. People have reported having out of body experiences while under the influence of drugs or induced by some sort of trauma, as well as near death experiences. Astral projection is taught through books, the internet, and religious techniques. An out of body experience is said to be clearer than a dream or daydream. Those who practice astral projections claim that their senses are enhanced, allowing them to see and feel with more clarity and without physical constraint. The origins of out of body experiences are unknown. However, OBE's have been practiced for many years in several different cultures. The New Age Movement is widely known for promoting and using this practice.

An out-of-body experience (OBE) is characterized by a feeling of departing from one’s physical body and observing both one’s self and the world from outside one’s body. The experience is quite common in dreams, daydreams, and memories, where we quite often take the external perspective. Some OBEs coincide with lucid dreaming. Some people experience an OBE while under the influence of an anesthetic or while semi-conscious due to trauma. Some people have an OBE while under the influence of drugs. OBEs have been induced by  electrically stimulating the right angular gyrus (located at the juncture of the temporal and parietal lobes).*  Finally, some people experience an OBE when they are near death (near-death experiences or NDEs).

Out of Body Experience - Why Do People Seek It?
Out of body experiences are sought after by those who desire knowledge or power in the spiritual realm, endeavor to help people, are curious, or want to be entertained. In some cases, people actually seek OBE's to cause harm to others. For the most part, an out of body experience is desired for a spiritual reason, such as reaching a higher level of consciousness or enlightenment.

4 Out of Body Experience Symptoms You May Know

For a lot of people who are not familiar with out of body experience symptoms, these signs can be very scary. For the beginner who has not experienced it, fear can get in the way of experiencing this amazing ability. That’s why it is good to know some signs or symptoms that often turn up.

Sleep paralysis

The first sign of out of body experience symptoms is sleep paralysis, getting used to this symptom is very difficult. In everyday life, our physical and psychical self convene in one coherent feeling. In sleep paralysis, your mind is awake, but your body is sleeping. You may want to, but you won’t be able to move any part of your body. Just like someone threw a very heavy cover over you. The key is to relax, and embrace the power of your mind wandering, not your legs.

Energetic charge/vibrations

There is a big chance you will feel some kind of vibration. Some call it vibrations, others call it tingle. But for sure, it is some kind of energetic flicker, not visible to other people watching (if there are any). It means that your body is not actually shivering, you just feel electrified. Intensity may vary from slight trembling to strong pulse like shaking. And, of course, there is a chance you don’t feel any.

Undefined sounds or noises

Just like the vibrations, the following symptom cannot be precisely explained. It’s good to highlight that the two usually go together. Those are undefined sounds or noises. People describe them as buzzing, humming or whirring. Also, as white noise, obscure murmur or a train rushing by. The only thing that’s clear from the depiction is how much these sounds deviate from person to person. And not only in quality, but in quantity too. They could be pretty loud, but it’s unlikely that the intensity will be the same throughout the whole experience.

Out of body experience symptoms: Sinking into Bed feeling

Another out of body experience symptoms that may appear is sinking into bed feeling. It can be disturbing, especially combined with body numbness, as you have no control over your body or current situation. Also, if you’re outside of your bedroom, you could be sinking into the ground, the sensation is not bed-related. This symptom comes in few variations. One is the exact opposite. You’re not sinking – but floating or levitating above the bed or ground. And another one is spine-chilling, as it has the element of surprise – a sudden fall.

The 7-Step Rope Technique For Astral Projection

Step 1: Relax

Relax your mind and body. You may choose to meditate or perform a series of very deep breaths. In and out, always very slowly. Make sure you inhale deeply and that your breaths are not shallow.

If you know a good body relaxation meditation, use it. If not, you can tense your muscles and release them one at a time. Work from your toes to the top of your head.

Step 2: Get into a hypnotic state

After you feel fully relaxed, you need to enter a hypnotic state where your mind is at the edge of sleep and no further. Now lie down and focus on an object. Stare at it until you can visualize it perfectly even with your eyes closed.

Step 3: Get into a deeper state of relaxation

Now it’s time to enter a deeper state of relaxation. Your eyes are still closed and you are still visualizing your chosen object. But now you look around you with your eyes closed. Gaze into the darkness.

After a while you may see light patterns dance across your eyes. Just ignore them and they will go away. Once they disappear you’ve entered a deeper state of relaxation. You will be so relaxed that you are no longer aware of your physical body. Once you reach this level, it’s time for step 4.

Step 4: Enter a state of vibration

This is the most vital step and it’s when you enter into a state of vibration. This state may take longer if you are new to this. When you do begin to feel the vibrations, your astral body has begun to leave your physical body. Just acknowledge this and feel the vibrations.

Step 5: Control the vibrations

Focus on the vibrations as they travel throughout your body. Using your willpower, control them with your mind. As you feel them, try to control the frequency of the waves as well as stopping and starting them. Once you master changing the frequency and you are sure that you can induce them when needed, you’re ready for step 6.

Step 6: Imagine the rope

Here is where you will exert your control and willpower. Imagining that there is a long rope hanging right above you. Without opening your eyes or moving your physical body, visualize yourself reaching up towards the rope.

Once you grab a hold of the rope, bring your hand back into your physical body, slow down the vibrations, and end the session.

After you become fully alert and awakened, move on to step 7.

Step 7: Rinse and repeat – now let’s do the whole body

Now that you’ve done a partial separation you’re ready to try the whole body. Repeat the previous 6 steps but this time, don’t stop at just one hand. Imagine your other hand coming out of your physical body and reaching for the rope. Slowly place hand over hand on the rope as if you were pulling yourself up.

You may feel a little dizzy at this point and the vibrations will buzz at a higher frequency. Often people here feel paralyzed or shrink back into their physical bodies. But concentrate on climbing the rope. Don’t stop until you feel your entire self separating from your body.

Finally you’re free! You will find yourself hovering over your body at this point.

Telepathy

Telepathy is the transference of sending or receiving thoughts from one living being to another. Besides using telepathy for person to person communication, you are can communicate with a pet and or plant. We have all communicated telepathically with our friends, family, co-workers and even animals and may not have been aware of doing so. Learning how to develop your telepathic abilities takes practice but is quite easy but does require patience and an open mind.

What you are describing is called telepathy, which is mind-to-mind communication also known as mind reading. It is not usual for most people, but it could be. The Universe communicates through telepathy, and so do animals. Man is the only creature that does not regularly use this innate sense.

It is widely known that twins exhibit telepathic connections; some twins can even be slower to develop speech because they have such an effective way of communicating with each other mentally. Language is not really an advanced form of communication. If you have ever listened to someone speaking a language that you do not understand, it is easy to recognize that spoken language is really just a series of grunts and tones that allow certain groups of people to communicate with each other based on the accepted decoding of these particular grunts and tones. The big problem with language is that it is often open to interpretation and misunderstanding.

Telepathy is direct communication. Telepathy can often be in the form of images or symbols. Animals communicate in this type of visual language, so if you don't want your dog on the couch or your cat on the kitchen counter, then don't think about the couch or the counter when instructing them. Instead, visualize your pet doing exactly what you would like and what would make you happy, then send them that mental picture. Both domestic and wild animals can pick up on thoughts and energies, so it is important to set clear intentions around them.

The Universe also communicates telepathically, giving us messages through dreams, visions, symbols, and also audible messages, like Joan of Arc hearing voices from God. We all have this gift available to us to varying degrees. What most people do not realize is that telepathy is two-way communication, and  the Universe is constantly reading our mind also. This is why working with visualization and affirmation is so important, because it sends a clear message to the Universe about what you want to manifest. If you do not have a clear focus and intention, then the Universe reads your thoughts and delivers your reality in response to your mental chatter, which is often based on fears, worries, judgments, etc.

Types of Telepathy

Telepathy has been defined as direct communication between minds. It is believed that there are three different types of telepathy:

Instinctual or feeing based telepathy

This type of telepathy is the most commonly experienced and is often felt between family members, close friends and even with animals.

In fact, the animal kingdom uses instinctual telepathy as its main form of communication and for survival.

As the name suggests, instinctual telepathy is most closely related to intuitive gifts and often people who are intuitive hold this telepathic ability naturally.

Instinctual or feeling based telepathy relies on the third eye chakra or the solar plexus chakra and can manifest as a “gut feeling” or as simply a knowing.

Mental or mind-to-mind telepathy

This form of telepathy is claimed to be the truest form of telepathy as it involves thought transference between two conscious minds.

This goes beyond people just knowing what you are thinking and is actually a way to have a conversation with either pictures, symbols or words without saying anything aloud.

Using this type of telepathy, messages can be communicated across rooms, countries and even into other galaxies or dimensions.

This type of telepathy uses the crown chakra which is the center for telepathic communication.

Spiritual or soul-to-soul telepathy

Spiritual telepathy is the highest form of telepathy and can be similar to mediumship or channelling.

Basically it involves using your mind as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual worlds.

For this reason, to achieve spiritual telepathy one has to be connected and aligned with all chakras.

Using spiritual telepathy, one soul can send information to another soul. This information may be received consciously or unconsciously.

Usually spiritual telepathy occurs between Twin Flames or members of your soul group.

Spiritual telepathy can also be used to communicate with spirits and those who have crossed over.

This type of telepathy can usually only be received through some type of meditative or dream like state.

What Are The Benefits?

  • You are able to communicate with the plant kingdom, animal kingdom or even other dimensional beings such as crossed over loved ones, spirit guides, the higher self or even the angelic realm.
  • One might say, telepathy is more of an accurate way of communication than the spoken word. Ever feel like someone is saying one thing yet they are sending you different telepathic messages?
  • Sometimes words do not do justice to the message you are trying to convey.

Which Are You – A Better Sender or Receiver?

Some of us are stronger receivers of information and for some of us our strength is receiving messages from others more clearly.

You Are A Natural Receiver If…

  • You pick up milk for example or some item that someone at home may need but isn’t able to call you to ask you to pick up the item?
  • You contact a personal friend or family member just as they were thinking about you.
  • Solutions to your dilemmas naturally pop into your head without any effort.
  • People often tell you that you took the words right out of their mouth?

You Are A Natural Sender If..

  • You are thinking about how nice it would be if someone brought you a cup of coffee and lo and behold someone stops by with a cup of Joe.
  • People are easily influenced by you and your mood.
  • Your pets follow commands without you speaking a single word.

Automatic Writing

Automatic writing, also known as Spirit writing, is a psychic gift and may be the one of the easiest psychic abilities to develop. Successful automatic writing is a powerful experience.

Automatic writing is a way to channel information (including predictions and prophecy) and spirit energy through writing. It is the ability to allow intuition from outside you to flow through you. Automatic writing is a form of intuition that has been around for thousands of years. But it wasn't until the late 1800's and early 1900's that it became better known through the worldwide spread of the Spiritualism movement.

Automatic writing is an energy link that allows you to communicate intuitively. Some psychics use pens and paper, computers, or even Ouija boards to relay messages from the other side. Any means of communications or sending a message works.

Automatic writing works, regardless of whether you write on paper or type from a word processor onto a computer screen. Some psychics that have been doing automatic writing for years are more comfortable writing with pen to paper. There are other psychics that feel that the digital link of a computer allows for a stronger connection.

Someone who is uncertain about their intuition may want to develop automatic writing abilities. Sometimes the physical act of writing allows you to open up an entirely new way to communicate.

Don’t overanalyze. Some people believe that the messages are coming through from their "higher self", or the Spirit of someone that has passed from the physical world. It doesn't matter what form it takes. When you seek Spirit, you will find Spirit.

Be intentional. When you meditate and pray, ask for contact with a higher energy. Doing this ensures that only the highest forms of spirit will come to your aid. Automatic writing is a form of channeling that involves focusing your consciousness to receive inspired information.

Spirit writing is to give you direction and guidance. That you receive direction is the important thing, not the source of the direction. When you attempt automatic writing, you may hear your voice, another voice or nothing. Sometimes there may be more than one spirit present. Don’t worry about the form it takes. Try to keep an elevated, calm attitude.

How to Write Automatically

Set your clear intention before you start. Call in your guides or angels and let them know you are exploring your abilities and would very much appreciate them keeping you under their protective wing. Become aware of your breath and relax your body – but don’t get to pompous with the ceremony, especially on your first attempts. It is more important that you try to enjoy yourself and have some fun with it.

Trips to the spiritual playground should fill you with joy!

Find it easier with pen and paper, while others prefer to touch.

Give permission to your personal guide or your higher self to use your hand to communicate. Invite them to use it. Go for it!

And then let the pen do what it wants. Look away from the page and let your hand run automatically. Do your best to keep your logical thoughts out of the process, but if it keeps jumping in, try counting to ten repeatedly out loud to entertain it while your hand intuitively scribbles away.

Do not filter, adjust, summarize or contemplate any of what comes through. Close your eyes if it helps. MESSY WRITING IS OK!

So what if the writing is illegible or one long sentence? ‘Punctuation’ is over-rated anyway!

When you are done, give thanks. Disconnect from spirit and draw your energy within so you are again standing strongly in your own power. Wrap up the automatic writing ritual in your own way … and only then re-read what you have written (or your guide has – I should say).

It may be nonsensical garbled gobbledygook – or it may surprise you with truth. It may be in a different style of handwriting than yours, or even another language!

And just like with absolutely everything else in life – you will get better with practice.

If automatic writing intrigues you, don’t just try it once, twice or even ten times before you give up because you haven’t yet channeled the lost scrolls of Atlantis.

If you enjoy writing, or wish you could channel, play with the process of automatic writing as a tool for creative expression – with the potential for accessing a greater wisdom.

Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. The state of lucid dreaming or “lucidity” sometimes starts at the beginning of a dream. The dreamer understands that the experience is not occurring in physical reality, but in ones dream. Often this understanding is noticed once one is either floating, flying or meeting a deceased relatives. In some instances one may lucid dream randomly during ones dream, suddenly realizing that you can control the settings. The state of lucidity can range from high and low. If the dreamer is at a high level, one might be cognizant of all the details of the dream. You will not be in any danger as you move with free will possibly manipulating your dream settings. However the low lucid state is quite different. In the lower frequency of lucidity, one may be able to float or fly around, though will still feel one is in the dream.

5 Life-Changing Benefits of Lucid Dreams

1. Fun

This is probably the most simple attraction of lucid dreaming, and yet it can give the most fundamental, primal joy. Imagine the most vivid, open-ended video game you’ve ever played or even conceived of. Lucid dreaming, when properly practiced and mastered, is like the most realistic VR simulation you can imagine, combined with a degree of complexity and open possibility that make GTA V look like pong. Want to fight Nazis on a flying motorcycle? Overthrow an empire? Visit distant planets? It’s all possible. Fun might not be the deepest or most sophisticated reason for wanting to get into lucid dreaming, but just one session battling ninjas on Jupiter will give you the kind of encouragement you need to further pursue the practice and achieve some of its more abstract and holistic benefits.

2. Overcoming Anxiety

Lest you think lucid dreaming is just a playground of escapist fantasy, a bubbling cauldron of Saturday morning cartoons and comic books, let’s remember that it’s also a practice that can have immense benefit for your everyday life. Lucid dreaming can assist in overcoming anxiety surrounding meetings, activities or events. Everyone suffers from anxiety to some degree—with some more affected than others—and lucid dreaming can be an invaluable tool for tackling it.

Lucid dreaming personally helped me to tackle a crippling anxiety about public speaking. This is one that I’m sure plenty of people can relate to. I’d be asked to read aloud, or defend an argument in front of a crowd, and the anxiety would come in floods. My blood would turn to cement, my heart would kick like an over-clocked engine, and the sweat would coat me in a fine, sparkly sheen.

One of the greatest opportunities offered to by lucid dreaming, however, is the chance to practice. Being able to test-run scenarios that terrify you, and then just being able to hit the reset button upon waking up, is fantastically useful for dealing with situations that stress you out. Slowly but surely, as I commanded troops and spoke to masses in my sleep, public speaking when I was awake became a little easier. Today, I’m a passionate public speaker, and can thank my lucid dreaming trial runs for much of my confidence.

3. Communicating With Yourself

I’ve been enamored with the idea of the subconscious since I first read Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams at the age of 13. The idea that there’s some powerful, primal, hidden part of yourself that influences your actions without your knowledge absolutely fascinated me. Although it was Freud that captured my interest, it was Jung that would entrance me with his conception of the subconscious as the model for God and the source of ageless, eternal memory and wisdom.

As the Delphic Oracle would suggest, the basis of all knowledge and achievement is to first “Know Thyself” and communicate with your subconscious. Luckily, lucid dreaming provides an excellent venue for this, as your dreams are the stage on which your subconscious puts on its nightly, fevered and mysterious plays. If you can spot that it’s all a set-up, it doesn’t take much to peel back the curtain and have a chat with the director. I have a friend, an avid lucid dreamer, who has gotten to know his unconscious mind so well in his lucid dreams that he’s personified and named the “entity” that creates his dreams, and often uses this model to consult with his unconscious mind whenever a tough decision is to be made. This form of communication can offer immense insight into yourself, and any unconscious motivations or pain that you might not be fully aware of, and which might be negatively affecting your life.

4. Getting in Touch With Spirituality

From Native American shamans to Tibetan dream yogis to West African mystics, dreams have always been an inexorable part of humanity’s connection with the divine, the transcendent and the mysterious. And today, at a time when organized and dogmatic religion is wavering, and many are looking for an alternative, lucid dreaming can provide a gateway to spirituality that is personal and intuitive. Our dreams can present opportunities for transcendent and beautiful experiences, as well as the perfect place to examine ideas and concepts in an outside-the-box fashion, making them ideal for testing the spiritual waters for those who are turned off by traditional conceptions of religion.

Lucid dreaming, when mastered, can be an intense and symbolically rich experience, and once one understands how dream images can often draw from human mythology and world religion, the spiritual dimension to dreams can become an immediate way to connect with whatever idea of “God” or Oneness or transcendent principle you might be interested in. Even if you’re not at all attracted by spirituality, lucid dreaming can give you an idea of the kind of profound, transcendent and connective states of mind that drive people toward religion and spirituality.

5. Inspiration

If there’s one thing to which dreams are more closely tied than spirituality, it’s artistic inspiration. From the Greek belief in the Muses communicating through dreams, right through to the influence that dreams had on the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe, dreams have long been regarded as a mystical and ethereal source of inspiration for art. The way in which dreams combine vivid images, complex symbols and strange premises provides fertile ground for artistic “Eureka!” moments. As a writer, I’ve lost count of how many short stories, metaphors and poems have shot straight from the soil of my subconscious. And artistic inspiration isn’t the only kind of insight afforded by intense exploration of dreams: many historical scientific breakthroughs have also emerged from dreams, from the discovery of the double helix structure in DNA to some of the most complex formulations of Indian mathematics genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. Dreams have brought us some of the most remarkable advances in human history—and who knows what you might accomplish with power over your dreams?

Other Benefits of Lucid Dreaming:

* Strengthening your problem solving skills

* Able to confront your fears first hand

* Becoming more creative

* Great way to improve your confidence level

* Become more in tuned with yourself and others around you

* Experience a different way to dream

* Understanding more about our unconscious mind

* Healing aspects

Lucid Dreaming Steps:

Step 1 - Repetition:

Though out the day  working or at home you must practice repetition. You will have to keep asking yourself “am i dreaming right now?”. After a couple tries an hour it might sink into your head that you are not dreaming. This repetitive thought process helps you unknowingly remember this when your dreaming.

Step 2 - Record Your Dreams:

You must learn how to record your dreams when you wake up. Keeping a dream journal is vital because it improves and expands your dream capability. Once you are able to remember the events and symbols in your dream you have a better chance getting to that lucid state. Taking the time and going through your previous recorded dreams before bed helps build a sence of awareness when your in a dream state.

Step 3 – Control Your Sleep:

Controlling your dreams consists of being mindful of your sleep schedule. Changing your sleep behaviour will greater your chances of having a lucid dream. Scientists reveled the lucid dreaming works best when taking a quick nap after you have gotten up from a long sleep. Randomly interfering with your sleep schedule usually increases Lucid dreaming as well.

Step 4 - Believe:

Start believing in your dreams and the significance behind them. People who feel a dream is just a dream would have trouble trying to lucid dream. You must understand the symbols and the mystic power behind them. Try your best to remain positive and confident. You must have a desire to want feel lucid.

Step 5 - Meditation:

For thousands of years meditation has been directly linked for human inner peace. Learning how to meditate is a great way to build your awareness on in your conscious and unconscious world. Practicing mindful meditation at least 10 minutes a day can increase states of lucid dreaming.

Step 6 – Conscious Mind Awareness:

The most important step is training your “Conscious Mind”.  You want to start by becoming more aware of your daily surroundings and the objects around them. Any items in your walking life that you would usually over look, now has to be taken into consideration. Anything from the tiniest detail that was once overlooked like stop signs to billboards, now needs attention. You must observe everything in full detail. This means the color, shape and feelings of objects so  when it appears in your dream it will connect.  Dreaming about an object that you analyzed in detail in your walking life you can apply it to your dream to see what is real and what is not. Once you can convince your mind that its just a dream the fun starts. Stretching your awareness in your day will help you gain more control of your dreams. You don’t need to keep focus on every single detail in your life because it would drive you mad. Just start with a couple of small observations a day that you would normally never look at in detail.

How To Stay In Your Lucid in Dreams:

The hardest part about lucid dreams are trying to stay in them.  Learning the proper technique provided below will turn an armature dreamer to a experienced one.  If trained properly you can last up to 30 minutes in the lucid state.

Relax – Relaxing is key when you want to stay longer in your fun lucid dream.  Most of the time we tend to get over excited and wake up from sleep.  In order to achieve a long period on lucidity you must calm your mind.

Hand Movement -Once relaxed state rub try and remember to rub you hands together.  This help prolong the lucid dream because its constantly stimulating the conscious brain.  Doing this technique you can last up to 10 to 30 minutes in a lucid state.

Focus -Focus on your hand in your lucid dream.  Don’t loose track of them, keep them in front of you.  Also focus on wanting to be in your dream.   Keep repeating out loud “attention or focus” and you will become more in tuned with the dream for a longer period of time.

Spelling Test – Think of spelling word or doing an easy math question. This will help engage the logical part of your brain when your loosing focus of the dream.

Circles – Going around in circles helps you ground your awareness in your lucid dream which in turn brings  you to a new dream scene.
